Quick Q&A with Colleen

How families and our leadership have experienced the journey so far

August 28, 2025

Q: What have parents and the community responded to most strongly?
A: Families have really connected with the fact that our school is rooted in a strong Christian foundation. They value that our approach is guided by faith and the Bible, but in a way that is inclusive and welcoming of all backgrounds.

Parents also appreciate that we are clear about creating an environment where children feel secure and supported. At the same time, they know that we treat every child and family with dignity and respect, always handling sensitive matters with care and compassion.

Parents have also welcomed our straightforward stance on gender. Boys and girls will use the bathrooms and dress according to the gender they were born as. At the same time, they know we will always handle individual situations with kindness, respect, and in close partnership with families.

Q: And what has stood out for you personally in this journey so far?
A: Without a doubt, it’s been the people of the East! Coming from the northern suburbs, I’ve been struck by how warm, genuine, and hardworking this community is. Parents here are deeply committed to giving their children the very best and want to be active partners in both their children’s education and the life of the school.
